Moonbeam Children's Book Awards

by Lynn M.Rosenblatt

Jenkins Group is proud to announce the winners of the 2016 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards.

Creating books that inspire our children to read, to learn, and to dream is an extremely important task, and these awards were conceived to reward those efforts. Each year’s entries are judged by expert panels of youth educators, librarians, booksellers, and book reviewers of all ages.

Connecticut teacher and author LYNN ROSENBLATT devoted twenty-five years to teaching energetic and spontaneous first and second grade children. She empowered students through a global teaching approach and welcomed student creativity and spontaneity. The ROCKIN’~ ROLLIN’ ALPHABET was a treasured manuscript and now becomes the newest addition to her Author-in-Resident presentations.

While sharing her poems with first graders, Lynn discovered the children’s magnetic attraction to her teddy bear illustrations. They related to the drawings and would retell and compare their own childhood experiences with the antics of the teddy bears.

These connections became valuable ingredients in the recipe for enriching reading, verbal expression, and inspiring students to be creative writers. The theme song became the frosting on the cake! The kids loved it ~ and a stage presentation was in the making. The song and the orchestral arrangement are perfect companions for this engaging book.

Perhaps a stage presentation is waiting in the wings at your school, too! Lynn’s greatest honor is her collaboration with her children ~Teri’s precious bears, Pamela’s critique and edits, and Ned’s musical collaboration… “He read my heart as he created this arrangement,” Lynn often states.

“…Music and the Arts are the artistic sweetness that glue information to the brain and soul.”
